Lane Kiffin, the head coach of Ole Miss, left for LSU in a contentious decision. Winston Watkins, Devin Harper, TJ Dottery, and Princewill Umanmielen all quit Ole Miss to join Kiffin at LSU. In the meanwhile, there haven’t been many comments from Kewan Lacy regarding Kiffin’s relocation.

Lacy tells Pete Nakos of On3 why he remains at Ole Miss.

“I didn’t think I had any incentive to strike the portal or do anything,” Lacy said to On3. Do you know what I’m talking about? I believe we’ve established a solid basis at Ole Miss, and we’ll continue to do so in the coming year.

Lacy transferred from Missouri after carrying the ball only 23 times for the Tigers in 2024. He was dominant at Ole Miss in 2025 under Lane Kiffin. With 24 touchdowns and an additional 177 yards receiving, Lacy finished with 1,567 yards on the ground. Lacy has not given Kiffin much thought since leaving him and making a comeback.

“It wasn’t actually unpleasant for me; there was just a lot of outside noise going on,” Lacy stated. “Many individuals are simply shifting things and moving components around. I basically concentrated on performing my duties on the field since that’s all that counts. “

Lacy wasn’t the only player to come back to Ole Miss after a playoff push in 2025. Trinidad Chambliss, a quarterback, decided to stay at Ole Miss after being given a sixth year of eligibility. Lacy’s return to the Rebels was influenced by that.

“That’s my dog, certainly,” Lacy remarked of Chambliss. “Last year, and the success we’ll achieve next year, he was crucial to our triumph. When his number was called, I simply applaud him for stepping up, and it’s a blessing to play alongside him. “I can’t wait for this year,” he said.

Chambliss and Lacy will take the pitch on September 6 in Louisville. As LSU travels Ole Miss on September 19, they will host their former coach.
