The transfer portal recruitment of John Blackwell has generated a full circus. Coaches are traveling across the country to speak with him; he is leaning toward one institution but distancing himself from another. Only to pick up steam with that school again. He is displaying awards from the 1960s. It is insane. Nonetheless, John Blackwell recently shared a nugget that is extremely significant to Wisconsin’s future season squad.
It seems that he was one of those who persuaded Trey Autry to move to Wisconsin. Even though Blackwell is on his superstar transfer tour of the top NIL schools, he said Autry to “Go to Wisconsin! ” That’s a significant contribution from Blackwell, who continues to assist Wisconsin goals.
The Badgers received help from Nick Boyd and John Blackwell in their recruitment of George Washington transfer Trey Autry:
Trey Autry claimed that both Nick Boyd and John Blackwell instructed him to relocate to Wisconsin.
Autry, a sharp shooter from George Washington, may step into Blackwell’s shoes. He may be deserving of a position in the starting lineup as a 2-guard or shooting guard, but not in the same manner as the others. Autry spoke with both Boyd and Blackwell, who both praised Wisconsin and Greg Gard.
He described Boyd and Blackwell as his close friends who he could call for advice. In this case, the question was whether joining the Wisconsin Badgers is the correct option to exit the transfer portal. Both granted him permission to visit Wisconsin.
It’s difficult to say whether Gard is finished in the portal following his latest additions. He has 12 players who are well balanced between four guards, four wings, and four bigs. There are two more roster spots open, although Gard has stated in the past that he does not always plan to fill them, preferring a smaller team in which everyone has a distinct position.
For now, it’s encouraging to see Blackwell take time out from his trip to assist Wisconsin get another guard, ostensibly to replace him.
