Oliver Glasner is hoping that Adam Wharton and Maxence Lacroix will be healthy enough to play at Selhurst Park on Monday when West Ham United plays Crystal Palace in the Premier League debut.
Crystal Palace are only 180 minutes away from a Europa Conference League final of their own, three years after Jarrod Bowen’s game-winning goal against Fiorentina in Prague.
To earn a spot in the semifinals, the Eagles beat Fiorentina 4-2 over the course of two games. The drawback, though, is that during the first half at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, Glasner was compelled to remove Wharton and Lacroix.
The prospect of Palace being without their first-choice midfielder and center-half would have increased confidence in the visiting squad as West Ham United gets ready to travel across London.
Nonetheless, Glasner told TNT Sports that he is still optimistic that both may participate on Monday.
Without Adam Wharton, Crystal Palace may have to play West Ham United.
“Adam is an abductor [injury], similar to when he was forced to quit the England camp,” Wharton was excluded from the Three Lions’ March games, according to Glasner. “Hmm. Even though it doesn’t seem like a big deal, we need to evaluate him more.
“Maxence then felt his knee, the medial ligament, after experiencing foot-to-foot contact. Therefore, let’s take a look, but it hurts.
Following Ismaila Sarr’s vital goal in the away leg in Florence, Lacroix posted a winning message on his official Instagram account at full-time. Although he had to leave the field with 41 minutes remaining, the center-half, who plays ball, seemed to be in excellent spirits.
Today, at his pre-match press conference, Nuno Espirito Santo is scheduled to speak to the media.
During last week’s 4-0 victory against Wolves, Nuno gave Crysencio Summerville his first start in a month. Following recent worries about injuries, Jean-Clair Todibo and Konstantinos Mavropanos are now also available.
