The Detroit Lions are playing for more than just themselves.

Detroit has faced numerous challenges, both financially and in sports.

Despite this, fans have consistently shown unwavering support for the team.

Head coach Dan Campbell believes it’s time to reward that loyalty.

Speaking to the media before their game against the Washington Commanders, Campbell called Lions fans a “sleeping giant” and noted they are the city’s only franchise without significant success (via Brad Galli):

“This is a sleeping giant for football. The Pistons have had success. Red Wings have had success. But the Lions have never had success and just to be able to unlock everything,” he said.

Achieving that success won’t be easy, but the Lions have what it takes to reach the top.

Furthermore, this could be their best and last shot at a championship for now.
