According to talkSPORT, Kieran McKenna, the manager of Ipswich, has a massive £8 million release provision in his contract.
Several Premier League teams, notably Crystal Palace and Fulham, are keeping an eye on McKenna.
Following Ipswich’s promotion from the Championship, it is believed that his release clause has gone up.
The Tractor Boys manager has guided the team to three promotions in the last four years, two of which have been to the highest level.
McKenna has garnered a lot of attention due to his success in the Portman Road dugout during the past five years.
The news that Andoni Iraola will be departing at the end of the season led to speculation that he would be connected to Bournemouth.
However, Marco Rose was hired as the Cherries’ new manager, with the German taking over in the summer.
Other places are still interested in McKenna, and Fulham and Crystal Palace might be possible candidates.
Following the conclusion of the season, Oliver Glasner will be departing Palace, and they will need to hire a replacement manager.
According to talkSPORT, their top choice to replace the departing Bournemouth manager Iraola is him.
Nonetheless, Fulham might also be interested in making an approach if Marco Silva departs, and McKenna is also on their radar.
Silva’s future is uncertain because his Craven Cottage contract expires this summer and he hasn’t yet agreed to a new one.
“Making plans already”
Despite the interest in McKenna, Ipswich chairman Mark Ashton is certain that he will remain with the team.
In an interview with White and Jordan on talkSPORT last week, Ashton confessed: Challenges come with success.
There was a lot of chatter around our manager the last time we got promoted, and rightfully so.
He had two promotions in a row, and he performed well in both.
We are not mistaken that there will be noise surrounding the manager, players, staff, and executives, but I believe that noise will always accompany success.
However, we are in a good position to advance this club.
Ashton responded emphatically when asked if McKenna would be guiding Ipswich into the Premier League in the upcoming season.
Yes, he will be staying, in my opinion, he said. I have no cause to say anything else… We are currently laying out our strategy.
