The Ohio State Buckeyes have looked like an actual NFL factory in recent years, with 25 players selected into the league. There are no indications of Ohio State slowing down, with Jeremiah Smith set to lead the team in 2027.

Among others, former Buckeye Jameson Williams is suing the Big Ten.

There is fresh news about one previous Buckeye who transferred to complete his collegiate career, and it is an intriguing trend that we are noticing more frequently.

According to a news, current Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams has filed a lawsuit in the state of California against the NCAA, Big Ten, and SEC, alleging that they have utilized his name, image, and likeness without paying him adequately.

“Williams has not been reasonably compensated by the Defendants for the entire commercial worth of his name, image, and likeness. According to the complaint, the defendants continue to benefit from Jameson Williams’ name, image, and likeness rights without paying him appropriate compensation.

Williams was a four-star prospect in the class of 2019 who played two seasons at Ohio State before transferring to Alabama in 2021. During his stay in Columbus, Williams was buried deep on the depth chart, appearing in 15 games with 266 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

After transferring to Alabama, Williams totaled 1,572 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns in 15 games for the Crimson Tide. Once the speedy wideout had the opportunity to be a starter, he performed like one of the best players in the nation, earning him a first-round selection by the Lions in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Williams is coming off back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons as the second receiver in Detroit’s attack. Last season, the former Buckeye had a career-high 1,117 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.

Now, Williams has some off-field activities to handle during his NFL offseason due to the lawsuits.
