Texas Tech is continuing to amass skill in the 2027 class.
The Red Raiders strengthened their No. 2-ranked recruiting class by signing heralded in-state defensive lineman Khyren Haywood on Monday.
The defending Big 12 winners defeated Northwestern, Kansas State, Arizona, and others to get one of the top DLs in the Lone Star State.
“What excites me about my fit at Texas Tech is the way they play defense… ” Haywood said Rivals that it was his style of play. “Coach (Joey) McGuire and Coach (James) Blanchard made me feel like a priority, and Coach (Jack) Teachey was very consistent and made me feel like a priority for Texas Tech. “
Haywood has paid several trips to Lubbock over the last two years, establishing good connections with a number of staff members throughout West Texas along the road.
This spring, the Red Raiders upped their efforts with the prized talent from Dallas Metroplex powerhouse Denton (Texas) Guyer, prompting Haywood to speed up his process.
“The crew has done an amazing job of making me enthusiastic about Texas Tech. I can’t wait to perform for the show, he said.
“What Tech has going for them is what they’re doing right now, and the things they’re creating on top of it are what make them such a powerful contender. ” “They can put me in the situations I want to be in when it comes to how I play,” Haywood said. “Coach Teachey has done a superb job of recruiting me by staying in touch with me and speaking with my family. ” Same with Coach Jaye (Imarjaye Albury). He has also done an excellent job of making me feel like a priority in his space.
