Following the departure of star guard John Blackwell to the transfer portal, the Wisconsin basketball team is now going forward. According to CBS Sports, Wisconsin is acquiring the 6-foot-10 big man Victory Onuetu through the portal. The player had formerly played for Hofstra.

After his outstanding showing for Hofstra against Alabama in the NCAA tournament, Onuetu came to everyone’s attention.

“In 18 minutes against Alabama, I had nine rebounds, four points, two assists, two steals, and two blocks,” CBS reporter Matt Zenitz tweeted on Twitter, which was previously known by that name.

With Onuetu and others, Hofstra competed in the NCAA tournament in the 2025–26 season. The season saw the big man average 4. 7 points and 6. 9 rebounds. In addition to starting 17 games, he averaged around 18 minutes each game for Hofstra.

In the meanwhile, Wisconsin ended the 2025–26 campaign with 24 wins.

Wisconsin’s basketball program wants to be the best in the Big Ten.

In 2026, the Badgers competed in the NCAA tournament, but the season was ultimately a letdown. High Point defeated Wisconsin in the Round of 64.

The head coach in Wisconsin is Greg Gard. Gard is voicing his team’s needs in preparation for the upcoming campaign. Following his team’s narrow defeat to High Point in March Madness, the coach was upset.

Following that game, Gard told the Associated Press, “You get sent home when you don’t take care of the things you need to take care of. “

Additionally, the Badgers have acquired Trey Autry via transfer this offseason. Autry is a shooting guard who formerly played for George Washington. In 2025–26, he averaged 11 points and 3. 5 rebounds per game.

“We are thrilled to have Trey coming to Wisconsin,” Gard stated in a statement from the institution. “He adds some bulk, physicality, and experience to our backcourt. “

Onuetu is expected to have a breakout year in 2026–27, according to Wisconsin basketball supporters. The Badgers also have a signed letter of intent from forward LaTrevion Fenderson.
