In March Madness 2026, Texas Tech basketball is looking to bounce back from its defeat against Alabama. By bringing in an All-Mountain West star through Wyoming, the Red Raiders made a significant stride on Sunday toward addressing their second-round setback.

Lubbock’s newest addition to the College Basketball Transfer Portal is Damarion Dennis. Sunday evening, Joe Tipton of On3/Rivals verified the transfer.

Grant McCasland, the head coach, gets a current MWC Honorable Mention to his TTU roster from Dennis. As a sophomore for the Cowboys, the 6-foot-1 combination guard averaged 11. 2 points each game.

Dennis also went above the 20-point plateau in three games, including scoring 20 against conference champion Utah State in the close 85-83 defeat on February 7. In the National Invitational Tournament (NIT) on St. Patrick’s Day, he scored 17 points against Wichita State, which was his last game for the Cowboys after the 74-70 loss.

However, this portal switch brings a Texan back home to TTU.

Dennis, who played for Veterans Memorial High, is from San Antonio. He became a three-star recruit, receiving a total of eight offers. By pledging to Texas A&M-Corpus Crispi, a member of the Southland Conference, Dennis remained in the Lonestar State following his high school career.

He played in 34 games overall, starting nine games for the Islanders. Dennis averaged 1. 3 assists and 0. 8 steals each game.

However, he left TAMU-Corpus Christi and ended up in Wyoming for his sophomore year. Dennis flourished in a CBB setting in Laramie. He’s back in the home state, and this time he’s making the leap to the power conference.
