Tyler Betsey, a former Syracuse forward, has committed to BYU’s basketball program.
According to a report by Travis Branham of 247Sports.
Betsey posted a snapshot of him in Photoshop BYU gear on his personal Instagram Stories account.
Syracuse forward Tyler Betsey commits to BYU basketball.
Betsey was a top-50 prospect in the class of 2024 high school cycle. He has played college basketball for two seasons, including one at fellow Big 12 opponent Cincinnati in his rookie year and this past year at Syracuse.
The 6-foot-8, 225-pound recruit hit 40. 7% from three-point range this past season for the Orange. He featured in 31 games, all as a substitute.
Betsey’s three-point shooting percentage was seventh in the ACC.
Last season, he enhanced his long-distance two-point accuracy to 44%, playing for an Orange team that ended 15-17 overall and 6-12 this season in the ACC.
The Orange made a coaching change, parting from Adrian Autry and rehiring former Siena head coach and Orange great Gerry McNamara.
Betsey’s claimed commitment gives BYU two portal commitments for the 2026 season, including Collin Chandler of Kentucky.
Both Chandler and Betsey possess talents that BYU basketball head coach Kevin Young seeks when building this squad, namely shooting.
Betsey ended his sophomore year at Syracuse with averages of 6. 7 points, 2. 8 rebounds, and 40. 2% shooting from the field in 18 minutes per game.
